Dear all,

The Baltic University Programme's main aim is to support building strong regional educational and research communities. As a part of this, we are arranging a scientific online symposium 19-20 October 2021. The aim of the Symposium 2021 is to be a platform where the regional educational and research communities can spread research findings and get together and to get to know each other better as colleagues at Participating Universities of The Baltic University Programme. We are challenging researchers from different disciplines with an interest in the Baltic Sea Region as an empirical field to discuss Sustainable Development in the Baltic Sea Region. We especially welcome presentations of research having an inter-/multi disciplinary approach.

The BUP Symposium 2021 is:

  • an opportunity present and discuss research
  • an arena where to meet colleagues and start off collaborations
  • an opportunity to get published and spread your research

The symposium will have nine themed sessions, covering the BUP Themes:

Climate Change, Renewable Energy, Sustainable Societies, Sustainable Water Resources, Urban-Rural Development, Bio- Circular Economy, Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), Sustainable Tourism and Sustainable Food Systems.

Presenting at the BUP Symposium 2021 can be done in two ways; orally or in a poster session. Both will be presented online. You need to submit an abstract for both alternatives. To do an oral presentation at the BUP Symposium 2021, we invite you to submit an abstract of the research you would like to present. To present your research in a scientific poster we would likewise need an abstract of the research you would like to present. Instructions and a form for either of the two options can be found on our web page.

The call for abstracts is open between 22 March and 22 May 2021.

We hope to see you on-line in October;

The BUP Coordinating Secretariat, Uppsala University
